A Central Texas middle school student’s outcry has led the arrest of a man who’s charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Stephen Jerome Roder, 26, of Belton, was in the Bell County Jail Monday, where he’s held in lieu of $200,000 bond.

He was arrested following an investigation that started in mid-May after a Lake Belton Middle School student told a friend she might be pregnant, according to an arrest warrant affidavit released Monday.

The friend told a school counselor, who called police, the affidavit says.

During a forensic interview at the Children’s Advocacy Center, the 13-year-old girl said a man she identified as Roder raped her and performed oral sex on her on two separate occasions in May, at his house and at her home, the affidavit says.

In a written statement, Roder confessed to the sexual assault, the affidavit says.
