A burglar who removed metal siding in order to break into a Temple liquor store escaped with more than $800 in cash and an unknown number of scratch-off lottery tickets.
The break-in was reported Friday at The Point Liquor Store at 8800 Airport Rd.
The owner reported she closed the store at 9 p.m. Thursday and then received a call from the alarm company at around 4 a.m.
She used her phone to check security cameras and didn’t see anyone in the store, so she said she advised the alarm company not to send police.
She received a second call from the alarm company at 4:15 a.m., again checked the cameras, and again advised the company not to send police.
But when she arrived for work Friday, she discovered the break-in.
At around noon Friday, a Belton police officer stopped a vehicle and found lottery tickets linked to the break-in.
It’s not clear whether any arrests have been made.
