A Temple police officer almost succeeded in corralling a runaway cow that ended up in Wilson Park, but the cow had other ideas.

The officer’s dashcam was rolling as he used his patrol unit to herd the cow into a gated area of the park Thursday.

But as the officer closed the gates, the cow suddenly charged him.

No one was hurt, but the cow is still on the run, police said Friday.

Efforts to find it by car and on horseback were unsuccessful.

The animal was last seen at around 8:30 p.m. Thursday outside of the city limits headed east, police said.

Police determined that the cow escaped from a veterinary clinic at South 31st and Avenue H, about two miles away from the park.
