Travis Science Academy in Temple is one of more than 700 schools recognized by Educational Results Partnership and the Institute for Productivity in Education as an Honor Roll School.

The distinction recognizes public schools that demonstrate consistently higher levels of student academic achievement, improvement over time, and reduction in achievement gaps among ethnic minority and socioeconomically disadvantaged students, Educational Results Partnership

Travis Science Academy is a traditional middle school that partnered with Baylor Scott & White.

The partnership helps offer an International baccalaureate education for students that focuses on science.

The school has more than 600 students who have worked hard over the past few years and demonstrated a high consistency in academic achievements.

Principal Kristina Carter also received a prestigious honor.

She was named outstanding middle school principal of the year in Region 12 by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals

She says none of this would be possible without all of the hard work that everyone put in at Travis Science Academy.

"It's always important for us to remember that it comes because of the staff that put time and energy into creating meaningful experiences,” Carter said.

“And then the relationships that we have with our parents and our community members who are committed and dedicated to the work that we do here at Travis."
