The Temple Children's Museum has been dropping hints for days about a big announcement that would be revealed during Friday night's '100 Women Dream' fundraising event.

At the Cultural Activities Center, the museum's organization announced that it has secured a building in downtown Temple for the future museum location.

The new museum will be at 214 South 2nd St.

Board members say several generous donors made it possible to purchase the building outright which allows money to go directly into outreach programs.

"We would like to continue [to] reach out to those children that maybe have never gotten to experience a children's museum," says Kathryn Hermans, Treasurer of Temple Children's Museum.

"We're now going into the school districts and bringing a field trip to the school."

Renovation plans for the new building have already begun.

Temple Children’s Museum board members are working

with the City of Temple to develop the green space surrounding the building.

The renovation schedule and opening date have not been released.
