Temple police arrest suspect in string of car break-ins

TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) A 20-year-old man was in custody Thursday in connection with a string of car break-ins in Temple.

Samuel Gray Ferguson was arrested early Wednesday morning after an officer who responded to a report of a car break-in caught a man in the process of burglarizing a vehicle.

Officers arrested the man, who tried twice to escape while in handcuffs.

Property stolen from eight vehicles was recovered.

The items were returned to the owners.

Ferguson was in the Bell County Jail Thursday charged with eight counts of burglary of a motor vehicle, evading arrest and giving false identification.

Bonds had not been set Thursday morning.
