A man accused of ramming and then firing at a car in which a woman and her children were riding was in the Madison County Jail Wednesday.

Adam Carter, 34, was arrested after a four-hour manhunt on Tuesday following the incident, which was reported at around 4:30 p.m. on FM 1452 West.

Carter, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office said, “is accused of ramming the victim's vehicle with his own vehicle while on the roadway. He then exited his vehicle and fired at least two shots into the victim's car. The victim attempted to drive away, but her car was damaged from the collision.”

A passerby picked up the woman and children, the sheriff’s office said, and Carter fired shots at the good Samaritan’s vehicle as well.

Carter is facing a list of felony charges, the sheriff’s office said.
