Officers recovered more than 1,400 golf balls stolen from the Traditions Golf Club in Bryan after pulling over a driver whose vehicle had an expired paper license tag.
Shane Mix, 43, of Joshua, remained in the Brazos County Jail Thursday in lieu of bonds totaling $49,000.
He’s charged with theft in connection with the theft of the golf balls and is held on unrelated warrants from Frisco, Denton and Tarrant County, according to online records.
Bryan officers pulled Mix over at around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, KBTX in Bryan reported.
He was towing a trailer carrying a golf cart, but officers noticed the cart had recently been spray painted black.
After a closer look, authorities found about 1,404 practice balls labeled with the Traditions logo, KBTX reported.
Golf club managers said the balls were stolen from the driving range and are worth a total of $3,500.
