PARIS, Texas (KWTX) Authorities say a man is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Paris Thursday night.
Paris police Chief Bob Hundley says a patrol officer initiated a traffic stop in the 200 block of East Sherman Street in Paris at around 11:40 p.m. Thursday.
He says the driver of the vehicle refused to exit the vehicle and was uncooperative.
A backup unit was called to assist.
As the two officers talked to the man, he got out of the vehicle and showed two large knives in what police said was a threatening matter.
Hundley says the officers asked the man to drop the weapons several times and not to come closer.
Hundley says the suspect started towards the officers and was shot.
The suspect was taken to a local hospital where he died.
His name was not immediately released.
The officers were not hurt.
The Texas Rangers are investigating.
