Texas teen charged after deadly Interstate 35 crash

LAREDO, Texas (KWTX) A Laredo teenager has been charged in connection with a three-vehicle crash in August on Interstate 35 that left two people dead and eight others injured.

Juan Carlos Lucio, 17, was in the Webb County Jail Friday charged with two counts of manslaughter.

His bonds total $300,000, according to online jail records

The charges stem from a crash on Aug. 18 on the southbound interstate in Laredo.

David Ramirez and Veronica Rivera-Martinez were thrown from the vehicle in which they were riding and died as the result of their injuries.

Eight other people were also injured in the collision.

KGNS in Laredo reports that investigators determined that Lucio was driving at speeds of more than 100 miles per hour at the time of the accident.
