Belton: Three arrested after local man beaten, robbed at gunpoint
Three men remained in custody Friday charged in connection with a weekend incident on Sunday during which a Belton resident was beaten and robbed at gunpoint in his home.
Robert Ferguson, 31, Eric Goertz, 30, both of Nolanville, and Charles Ferguson, 23, remained in the Bell County Jail Friday in lieu of $200,000 bonds charged with aggravated assault with a weapon.
As Bell County deputies arrived Sunday at the home at 220 Rosemont Dr. in Belton in response to a report of the robbery they spotted several men running away, one of whom appeared to be carrying an AR-15 style assault rifle, an arrest warrant affidavit says.
A short time later deputies found the Fergusons and Goertz hiding nearby, the affidavit says.
The victim told deputies that four men had come to the house “to purchase some items from him” returned later to rob him, the affidavit said.
“He stated during (the) robbery he was struck in the head several times with a pistol, that two individuals involved had handguns and the others had what appeared to be…AR-15 styled weapons,” the affidavit said.
During the robbery, he said, one of the men fired a shot.
Deputies found a shell casing inside the house, the affidavit says.
Goertz admitted to deputies that he, the Fergusons and a third man he identified as “Matthew” “forced their way into the house to commit a robbery.”
He told deputies the AR-15 style weapons were airsoft rifles, “but admitted the handguns were firearms.”
