WACO, Texas (KWTX)X A freight train came to a stop Wednesday evening after clipping the rear of a van in downtown Waco.

Police, paramedics and firefighters responded at around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday to a report of the accident at South 5th Street and Jackson Avenue.

The van was unoccupied and had been parked improperly, police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

The force of the collision sent the van into two other vehicles, he said.

The train temporarily blocked traffic from South 3rd Street to South 20th Street along Jackson Avenue, and motorists were having to find alternate routes through the area while the train was stopped.

Just after 7 p.m., railroad officials told authorities they were planning to move the train north to the Elm Mott area.
