HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas (KWTX) A 20-year-old Harker Heights man faces a murder charge in 264th District Court Monday connected to a 2017 shooting that investigators say escalated from a parking lot disagreement that ultimately cost another man his life.

Larry Leshawn Thomas, Jr., 20, of Harker Heights, is charged with the Sept. 5, 2017 shooting murder of Jose Antonio Hernandez, 28, of Harker Heights, whom police found lying next to a vehicle in the 400 block of Amy Lane that day, just after 8:35 p.m.

An officer performed CPR until paramedics arrived, but Hernandez later died at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple.

Officers from the Bell County Organized Crime Unit and the Harker Heights Police Department arrested Thomas at around 7:45 p.m. Sept. 7, 2017.

He remains in custody in the Bell County Jail in lieu of $1 million bond.
