A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper who was injured late Sunday night when an 18-wheeler slammed into a parked patrol unit on Interstate 35 north of Waco was released Monday from Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center, DPS Sgt. Ryan W. Howard said.
The crash occurred just after 11:15 p.m. Sunday on southbound Interstate 35 near mile marker 361, just north of Abbott, Howard said.
Howard said the rig veered onto the shoulder of the highway and crashed into the trooper's patrol unit, which was stopped off the roadway.
The trooper, who suffered head injuries, was airlifted but was speaking to first responders while on the way to Hillcrest.
The investigation into the crash continues and charges are possible, Howard said.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was not hurt.
