The Killeen ISD Career Center was evacuated Tuesday morning after a truck that students repaired burst into flames behind the building during a test drive.

Firefighters responded at around 9:40 a.m. Tuesday to the career center at 1320 Stagecoach Rd. in Killeen.

The fire produced a cloud of black smoke, but no one was injured.

Classes resumed after the flames were extinguished.

Students from all four of the district’s high school attend the center, which offers programs developed in collaboration with local businesses and educational institutions.
