Two people are dead after a head-on collision in Fairfield Friday night, according to DPS Sgt. DL Wilson.

Around 6:58 p.m. a man in a Cadillac Deville was driving west on Highway 84 and tried to pass lanes when he hit a Chevrolet Cruze in the opposite lane.

The driver of the Chevrolet has been identified as William Wallace, 64, from Meridian, and is in stable condition.

The passengers of the Chevrolet were Charline Wallace, 62, and Dwayne J. McCain, 38, who were both pronounced dead at the scene. Wilson said everyone inside the car was wearing seatbelts.

Joshua J. Williams, 17, was driving the Cadillac and is now in serious condition at Trinity Mother Frances.

Three of the passengers in the Cadillac are listed in serious condition at ETMC in Tyler.

A fourth passenger is in stable condition, but none of the occupants of the Cadillac were wearing seatbelts, Wilson said.

Wilson said the accident occurred in a ‘no passing zone,’ and DPS is still investigating the crash. He said it is unknown what charges will be filed.
