Killeen: Two indicted in shooting that left teenager dead
Two men were indicted Wednesday on charges stemming from a shooting at a Killeen apartment complex that left a teenager dead.
Myshan Leandre Diggles, 30, and Malik Devante Chrystal, 21, were named in indictments Wednesday charging deadly conduct/discharge of firearm-habitation, building or vehicle.
They both remain in the Bell County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bonds.
Diggles is also held on an unrelated warrant.
Police arrested the two on Aug. 28 and recovered both a .45 caliber and a 9mm handgun after the shooting at the Bridgewater Apartments in the 600 block of West Hallmark Avenue that claimed the life of Zeontre Da’Shon Horton, 18.
Officers performed CPR on the victim until paramedics arrived.
He later died at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center.
The two suspects admitted to “shooting up at the second floor area of the apartment complex,” an arrest warrant affidavit says.
A witness said the shooting happened after “the suspects had a verbal altercation with an individual on the balcony.”
Officers found “numerous .45 caliber semi-automatic shell casings and 9mm semi-automatic shell casings” in the area of the parking lot and a breezeway and multiple bullet fragments on the second floor landing.
“Suspect Diggles stated that he had a .45 caliber handgun. Suspect Chrystal said he had a 9mm handgun that was given to him by suspect Diggles. Both guns were recovered,” the affidavit said.
