Police said they responded to the Valero Convenience Store at the 1000 block of West Stan Schlueter Loop around 12:15 a.m. after receiving reports of a robbery.

The victim told police he left his car running and unlocked while he went inside the store.

When he came back out, he told officers there were two men in his vehicle attempting to steal it.

Police said the victim reached into the car to stop the men from leaving.

During the struggle, one of the suspects drove through a fence at the back of the parking lot, stopping in a grassy area.

The two suspects got out of the car and ran away in an unknown direction.

No further suspect descriptions were available.

The victim received minor injuries.

Police said there were no weapons involved.

Killeen police are reminding drivers to never keep their keys in their vehicle, even if they're only going to step away for a few minutes.
