KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) Two teenagers were in custody Thursday charged with murder in connection with a shooting Sunday in Killeen that left a local woman dead.

De’Jauna Monte Williams, 18, and Cedric Vernon Henderson, Jr., 19, were held Thursday in the Killeen City Jail in lieu of $1 million bonds.

Williams turned herself in to police and Henderson was arrested without incident in the 2000 block of Trimmier Road.

Kaitlyn Silverio, 20, of Temple, died late Sunday night at Scott & White Medical Center in Temple after officers who responded to a report of the shooting found her lying in the road in the 3300 block of Hereford Lane.

“Through the investigation, detectives with the Homicide and Organized Crime Units were able to determine that this incident was a narcotics transaction,” police spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez said in a press release Thursday.

The deadly shooting was the city’s 12 homicide of the year.

A total of 16 were reported in 2019.
