Roseann Lucidi, 65, of Kempner, who suffered critical injuries in a four-vehicle crash on Jan. 17 in Copperas Cove, has died at a local hospital, authorities said Thursday.
Lucidi died Tuesday at Scott & White Medical Center where was taken after the crash, which occurred at around 4:50 p.m. on Jan. 17 on the U.S. Highway 190 bypass south of Copperas Cove.
Investigators determined an eastbound Freightliner flatbed truck driven by Bryan Rhudy, 40, of Killeen struck the rear of a 2017 Dodge pickup whose driver had stopped because of heavy eastbound traffic, Department of Public Safety Sgt. David Roberts said in a press release Thursday.
The Freightliner then crossed the center stripe and veered into westbound traffic where it collided first with a Nissan Altima and then the 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe that Lucidi was driving.
Rhudy was taken to Seton Medical Center Harker Heights and the 40-year-old Lampasas woman who was driving the Altima was taken to Metrolplex Hospital in Killeen with non-incapacitating injuries.
The two people in the pickup escaped injury.
The crash is still under investigation.
