CEDAR PARK, Texas (KWTX) Authorities in Cedar Park Monday identified the victim of a deadly shooting Sunday night as Austin Robert Burroughs, 22.

Burroughs, police said, was an active-duty member of the U.S. Air Force.

Officers dispatched to a report of gunfire at around 9:15 p.m. Sunday at the Lakeline Villas Apartments in Cedar Park found Burroughs dead of a gunshot wound.

Burroughs was shot by another man as he was getting out of the vehicle in which he was riding, along with his wife, after parking outside the apartment complex.

The suspect was described as a black male with a thin build and of average height who was wearing an orange or red hooded sweatshirt and dark sweatpants.

The suspect, who was armed with a semi-automatic handgun, escaped in a gray or silver hatchback.

Police say they think the slain airman's wife lives in the apartment complex while the victim was living at his duty station, but didn't specify where he was assigned.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact Det. Kristy Whitley at (512) 260-4816 or by email at kristy.whitley@cedarparktexas.gov.
