WACO, Texas (KWTX) The Waco Animal Shelter was packed Monday and some dogs were at risk of being euthanized.
"We received 12 dogs just this morning before we even opened, so we will be starting our day at full capacity," said Don Bland, the executive director of the Humane Society of Central Texas, which operates the shelter.
"We will be offering all of our adult dogs who have been spayed or neutered for free adoption today," Bland said.
Several weeks ago the shelter had to put down a dozen or more dogs because of lack of room.
The facility is a no-kill shelter, but when it’s full and all other options have been exhausted, some animals are at risk for being euthanized.
