WACO, Texas (KWTX) Just before thousands of tourists flood downtown Waco for the annual Silobration, Magnolia opened its newest business endeavor Wednesday.

Magnolia Press welcomed people to try its coffees, teas and treats.

People lined up to take pictures in front of the stores sign amid the ongoing construction project.

The coffee shop is part of a larger expansion of the area that Magnolia is working on.

In a website post earlier this year, Joanna Gaines said something about the project felt right when they bought property a year ago.

“When we evaluated what we felt was missing from the overall experience and how we could use the old building next door, everyone on our team agreed a good corner coffee shop would make the perfect fit,” she said.

The Magnolia Masterplan Project received just more than $1 million for public improvements in a two-block area including the coffee shop as well as a home furniture store, retail village, a repurposed church building, outdoor walkways and recreation and reflection space.
