WACO, Texas (KWTX) The McLennan County Dispute Resolution Center has a new executive director.

Janet Lyon was named to the position on Jan. 6, the nonprofit announced Wednesday.

Lyon is the third director to serve the DRC and succeeds Donna Phillips, who announced her retirement after serving eight years of innovative and tireless service.

DRC “is dedicated to providing the residents of McLennan and surrounding counties with access to quality, affordable, and effective mediation, conciliation and training services,” a DRC news release says.

Lyon, a Texas Mediator Credentialing Association Credentialed Mediator, learned her craft at Manouso Mediation and Arbitration, LLC, which includes the Basic 40-hour, Advanced Family, Child Protective Services (CPS), Elder Care and Child Coordinator.

“We see an opportunity for the Dispute Resolution Center to develop a broader base of volunteers and expand services. We are pleased to have Janet lead us in this stage of development,” said Katie Casper, DRC Chair.

“The Board of Directors (is) enthused about the future of the center, and we are excited to bring Janet to help lead us in growth,” John Palmer, DRC board member, said.

The nonprofit organization is working to boost dispute resolution services throughout the community, to raise more funds, and increase the DRC donor and volunteer base.

“We want to continue to offer training while we reach out to increase the number of mediations for residents of McLennan County and surrounding counties,” Casper said.

“I am honored and thrilled to have this opportunity,” Lyon said.

“I look forward to being a part of the organization and working with this board, a network of seasoned, credentialed mediators.”
