Waco: Expect I-35 road construction delays this week

Starting Tuesday to Thursday Texas Department of Transportation is alerting drivers about plans to perform work nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on the main lanes of Interstate 35.

“Crews plan to close all north and southbound main lanes on I-35 near Business 77 nightly as well as “all east and westbound lanes of Business 77 where they cross under I-35.”

Drivers traveling northbound on I-35 “will be directed to exit at Business 77 (Exit 337A), while southbound I-35 drivers will be directed to exit at US 84/Waco Drive (Exit 338A). Drivers may re-enter I-35 at the next available entrance ramp. Traffic along Business 77 will be directed to the north and southbound frontage roads, respectively, and may reconnect with Business 77 by crossing I-35 at either Behrens Circle or Forrest Street.”

Additionally, crews will be working on drainage features causing the closure of US 84 east and west bound lanes under I-35 from 7 p.m. to noon, Wednesday with the anticipation of adding an additional day of work if needed.

Signage will be in place to inform and direct drivers.
