WACO, Texas (KWTX) Northbound traffic was backed up Tuesday evening on Interstate 35 in Waco after a truck hauling large metal structures lost its load, blocking all of the mainlanes in the area of South 8th Street.

“Traffic is being diverted to the access road. Please avoid the area and take alternate route if possible,” police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said in an email at around 6:30 p.m.

“Officers on scene expect to have the debris removed within the next hour or so,” he said.

Just after 7 p.m., Swanton said the highway was cleared, but said it may take some time for the traffic flow to return to normal.
