WACO, Texas (KWTX) Waco’s Dillard’s store, an anchor at the Richland Mall since the early days, soon will move into the space previously occupied by Sears, an upgrade in location and space, says Julie Bull Diamond, a spokesperson for Dillard’s Inc., headquartered in Little Rock, Ark.,

The 157,000-square-foot Sears left vacant after the retailer closed up shop on March 10 will be the new home of Dillard’s jewelry, fragrances, housewares and women’s clothes, Diamond said.

Dillard’s will operate as a “dual anchor” for the mall because the Dillard’s men’s department will remain where it has been since 1980.

What happens to the remainder of Dillard’s space us uncertain, Diamond said.

Sears locations in Abilene, Amarillo, Killeen, Plano, Port Arthur and Richardson also were marked for closure.

Dillard’s has not yet announced when the new space will open for business.
