WACO, Texas (KWTX) The process of collecting core samples as part of the design phase of the rehabilitation of the Waco Suspension Bridge didn’t take as long as expected.

City officials originally expected the work would be spread out over three weeks as a crew drilled first from the middle of the bridge and then between the anchor houses on each side of the historic span.

But the crew finished the work in the first week and the bridge was reopened as scheduled last Friday.

“No further public closures associated with the design phase are expected,” the city said Monday.
