Waco: BU students attempt to break world record with cookie mosaic

WACO, Texas (KWTX) A group of Baylor students got together to try and break a world record Tuesday by building the largest mosaic out of cookies.

It was a part of the annual Diadeloso event held on campus.

The Baylor Chamber of Commerce and catering department came up with the idea.

They've been baking cookies for months, and woke up early this morning to put the mosaic together.

More than 18,000 cookies were donated, and the final mosaic was 1600 square feet.

"It's a lot of work. It's a lot of working together with different departments within the universe and it's going to be some great things to say that our event this year we accomplished something so strange," said Baylor student Casey Sparkman.

Sparkman says the group has more cookies and a larger square footage than any other previous cookie mosaic.

Now the students have to wait for the Guinness Book officials to finalize the achievement.

Most of the cookies will now be donated to at least 18 local charities across the Waco area.
