Waco: Benefit held for man fighting rare form of kidney disease

WACO, Texas (KWTX) A Central Texas man is receiving support from the community as he fights a rare form of kidney disease.

Kelby Thompson is in need of a kidney transplant. He's been living with a rare form of kidney disease since he was three.

During a benefit at Lakeside Tavern in Waco Saturday night, a raffle was held to raise money for surgery that he needs and awareness for the cause.

Thompson has undergone countless surgeries, dialysis and two failed transplants.

He requires type O blood products but he is hoping if he doesn't find a match for his transplant, someone else will.
