Waco: Central Texans brave soggy weather to fight heart disease
2018 marks the 25th year for a walk with a very special purpose.
Central Texans braved the soggy conditions Saturday and headed out to McLane Stadium for the Waco Heart walk.
It's all to raise money to cure heart disease and stroke.
People from all over the area formed teams to walk together and our Tara Mergener was among them.
Since the heart walk began in 1993, mortality rates from cardiovascular disease and stroke have gone down 45 percent, but organizers say there's much more work to be done.
