Waco: Emergency crews responded to manhole fire downtown
Emergency crews are on the scene of a manhole fire in downtown Waco.
According to Deputy Fire Chief R.M. Bergerson, there was an electrical fire in a manhole in the 100 Block of 6th Street at Austin Avenue.
Bergerson added this is rare and didn't speculate on the cause of the fire.
He said Oncor was called in to de-energize or shut off the power in the area.
Power has since been restored.
Crews from the city's street department were called in to block off some streets in the area while the problem is fixed.
The extent of the outage or possible damage was not immediately known.
