WACO, Texas (KWTX) Tuesday night, Waco's newest city council member and two veteran members were sworn into office.

Jim Holmes and Dillon Meek took the oath of office to start their new terms after winning re-election.

And Hector Sabido was sworn in to represent District 2 replacing Alice Rodriguez.

She is stepping down after 24 years of service.

Sabido has already started setting goals for his term saying, "I would love to see more individuals starting their business and more businesses continue to flourish in District 2. I think that's just a culmination of better neighborhoods and new businesses just make it that much better."

Outgoing Councilwoman Rodriguez was presented with gifts including a painting and flowers, and the council and community honored her for her two dozen years of service.
