Whataburger throws bash for Texas WWII vet's 100th birthday

MALAKOFF, Texas The Whataburger restaurant in the Henderson County community of Malakoff literally rolled out the red carpet to celebrate the 100th birthday of a World War II veteran this weekend.

C.J. "Red" Wallace arrived to party in a white stretch limousine where dozens of families and friends greeted him Saturday.

Red has been a regular at the restaurant for years and Whataburger decked out the place with special decorations in his honor.

He blew out the candle on a red, white, and blue birthday cake and was presented 100 birthday cards for his 100th birthday.

Red's secrete to a long happy life, he said, is to get outdoors and stay busy.

Mr. Wallace was an army radar technician and was part of the effort to liberate Europe from the Nazis in World War II.
