Wheelchair-bound woman rescued, 2 other displaced after fire

A duplex fire Monday morning displaced two people and led police to assist a wheelchair-bound woman to safety.
The fire broke out at a duplex in 2500 block of North Morrow Avenue around 4:30 a.m.
When firefighters arrived all three people were already evacuated.
Battalion Chief John Johnson said in the report police knocked down the door to alert the woman and assisted her in getting out.
The duplex sustained heavy smoke and fire damage to one side, the report said.
The fire caused $45,000 in damage and is believed to have started in the kitchen.
The two people who lived in the duplex did not need to assistant of the Red Cross.
