WACO, Texas (KWTX) Waco police said Tuesday the woman who accused the father of her child and other men of trying to kidnap her in December lied about the incident.

Sierra Marie Quintanilla, 23, turned herself into the McLennan County Jail on Saturday on a charge of making a false police report.

On Dec. 14, Quintanilla ran to a convenience store and said she’d just escaped from an attempted kidnapping.

The woman told police that the father of her child and another man drove up at around 10:50 a.m. while she was in the parking of the complex at 5101 Hawthorne Drive.

“The child's father exited the vehicle and began assaulting the female before dragging her into the vehicle by her hair,” Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said on the day of the allegation.

“Once in the vehicle, the victim was threatened with a gun and the assault continued,” he said.

As they began to drive she was able to jump out of the car.

Swanton said Quintanilla later recanted her story and said she lied about it out of revenge.

Police also said the report caused the department to put out an alert to the entire Region 6 area of the state and at least one potential suspect vehicle was stopped.

Online records did not list Quintanilla as still being in the jail Tuesday.
