TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) Police released surveillance photos Tuesday of a woman wanted in connection with the theft of packages from a home in Temple five days after a tough new package theft law took effect in Texas.

The woman took about $250 worth of packages between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. last Friday from the home in the 100 block of Lago Verde Lane and left in a silver sedan.

The new Texas law that went into effect on Sept. 1 made it a felony to steal packages as well as letters, postcards and other sealed items considered to be mail.

Theft of packages from fewer than 10 people is a state jail felony, punishable by as much as two years behind bars.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the theft to call Temple police at (254) 298-5500.
