Woman dies after being struck by vehicle on local highway

A woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle early Saturday morning in Nolanville.

Nolanville Police say it happened just after 1 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 14/Highway 190 near Paddy Hamilton overpass.

When emergency crews arrived, they discovered the body of a 54-year-old female in the center median of the highway.

Police say the woman was attempting to cross the highway.

The victim had an identification that showed a Killeen address, said police.

The driver who struck the woman cooperated with officers during the investigation.

No charges have been filed at this time.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Claudia Brown.

The victim was transported to Centex Mortuary in Temple pending an inquest and notification of the next of kin.

The victim's name is being withheld at this time as authorities work to notify her next-of-kin

Texas Highway Patrol troopers assisted with the initial investigation and will be handling the scene reconstruction and state fatality accident reports.

Other agencies that assisted with traffic control and the initial handling of the scene were Central Bell County Fire Rescue, Acadian Ambulance, Harker Heights Police and the Bell County Sheriff’s Department.
