HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas (KWTX) A local college student has been charged with sexual assault after a woman told police a man from whom she accepted a ride to her hotel from a bar in Harker Heights raped her.

Rufus Wayne Anderson, 29, of Copperas Cove, a student at Vista College, was in the Bell County Jail Monday, where he’s held in lieu of $100,000 bond, according to online records.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, the victim told police that on June 19 she went to Wet Willie’s in Harker Heights and had two drinks.

Afterward she went outside to get an Uber ride back to her hotel when Anderson approached her and offered to give her a ride, the affidavit says.

The affidavit says Anderson stopped the car on the way there, took off the victims shorts, and then raped her anally and vaginally.

The victim, “states that she told him ‘no’ and ‘to stop’ and that she kicked the man.”

After the alleged assault, the woman said the next thing she remembered was Anderson driving her back to the bar.

The woman told officers her phone and purse, which contained about $500 in cash, credit cards and her driver's license, was missing, the affidavit says.

The woman, who told officers that Anderson was wearing a shirt with the word “Vista” on it, was taken to Scott & White Medical Center in Temple to be evaluated for her injuries, police said.

The investigating officers spoke to the manager of the bar, who remembered Anderson and called him a regular customer.

When the officers went to Vista College they showed a woman there surveillance pictures of Anderson leaving the bar and she was able to recall his first name, while another man knew his last name.

The manager of Wet Willie’s later identified Anderson in a photo lineup and said she saw him leave with the victim, the affidavit says.
