CORYELL COUNTY, Texas (KWTX) A 25-year-old woman is dead after the horse she was riding was hit by a truck.

It happened at 6:40 p.m. Friday, about five miles outside of Copperas Cove near Perryman Creek Road.

Michelle Loher, who showed an address on Fort Hood was riding the horse south over the Table Rock Bridge, Department of Public Safety Trooper D.L. Wilson said.

The driver of a salvage truck owned by Cen-Tex Scrap and Metal was attempting to pass an 18-wheeler that was also southbound.

"The woman was wearing dark clothing on a dark horse and the driver didn't see her until it was too late." Wilson said.

Loher and the horse were both killed.

The 45-year-old driver of the truck who is from Killeen was not hurt.

No charges have been filed but Wilson says the accident is still under investigation.

It is illegal to pass a vehicle within 100 feet of a bridge in the state of Texas.
