Waco: Some moms are working from home
According to a recent study, working from home has grown by more than 40 percent in the last decade.
Local moms are following suit and finding ways to stay at home and bring in a paycheck.
Several popular multi level marketing companies- Rodan and Fields, Mary Kay, Arbonne, etc- are the perfect opportunity for moms that need the flexibility to make their own schedule and the dependability of a scheduled paycheck.
April Rosier, a successful Rodan and Fields consultant loves working from home and is thankful for the opportunity working from home as afforded her family.
“Having this job and having this second income coming in lets us do the fun things I want (my daughters) to do while I’m still at home with them, taking care of them” Rosier said.
Local blogger and Young Living Essential Oils rep Stephanie Wolfe is able to stay home with her medically fragile daughter while working her businesses during naptime or after her daughter is down for the day.
“I need to be home with my daughter but I want to help out with our finances too. Building business through being at home, it was the best thing I could do, a no brainer” Wolfe said.
Other moms are selling their homemade goods. From headbands and tutus to cookies and cakes, women are capitalizing on their creativity.
“I wanted to have a product that could kinda sell itself, so what better than a cute and yummy tasting cookie?!” local mom Sarah Rodgers said.
Several still use their talents or degrees from a home setting.
Bookkeeping, photography, Insurance sales, and party planning are all popular vocations moms can work after hours.
While studies show income earned while staying at home is not always on par with traditional office salaries, the trade off for moms working at home is worth it.
