2-A-DAYS: Riesel Indians

RIESEL, Texas (KWTX) The Riesel Indians just missed out on a district 8-2A regular season championship last year, and hope to reach the top despite losing most of the offensive production from 2018.

Riesel went three rounds deep in the playoffs but will have to replace their starting quarterback, running back, and most of the offensive line.

"We want to win state. Every time a whistle blows, I hear somebody saying it," junior offensive lineman Tyler Jeske said. "We break down, we say it every day. It's engraved into our memories to win state."

"Every morning we were up here working out, running -- three, four hours every day just going hard, going fast and doing as much as we could to get in shape," junior Will McClintock said.

McClintock and Donavon Blakes will be competing for that starting quarterback position.

Jeske started on the line as a sophomore last year, so he'll be the anchor up front to bring along the inexperienced teammates.

Riesel will begin the season next Friday with a home game against Thrall.
