Baylor junior shortstop Nick Loftin was selected No. 32 overall by the Kansas City Royals in the Competitive Balance Round A of the 2020 MLB Draft.

Loftin, who hit .323 as a junior and had as many walks (17) as strikeouts, was projected by and CBS Sports to be selected late in the first round.

It marks the second-straight year that a Baylor player was drafted before the second round. Shea Langeliers (No. 9, Atlanta) and Davis Wendzel (No. 41, Texas) were both selected early in the 2019 MLB Draft.
