Area teams swept out of playoffs in Tuesday playoff action

WEST, Texas Four area teams played regional quarterfinal games in the state playoff Tuesday night and all four were knocked out of the postseason.

At the 6A level, Shoemaker played hard right to the final buzzer but couldn't beat Rockwall. The Grey Wolves trailed much of the night to a good Rockwall team. They were down as many as a dozen in the second half but rallied late in the game. J'Wan Roberts led the rally for Shoemaker. Missed opportunities down the stretch cost them a chance to tie or win. Shoemaker's season ends with the 58-57 loss.

In the 4A playoffs, China Spring's season ended thanks to a 52-50 loss to Waxahachie Life. The Cougars built a nice first half lead but saw that lead disappear in the second half. The game was tied late on a clutch three by the Cougars. But Waxahachie Life had the final shot and they made it count, beating the buzzer for a 52-50 win to end the Cougars' season.

In the 3A playoffs, Academy's season ended at the hands of Crockett. Academy trailed most of the night to a good Bulldog team and eventually fell 50-41. The loss ends Academy's season.

The Coolidge Yellowjackets finished a really good season with a loss in the 1A regional quarterfinals to Neches. In a showdown of top 15 ranked teams in the state, Neches edged Coolidge 48-45.
