Astros take a Fort Hood veteran on a Killeen shopping spree

KILLEEN, Texas The Houston Astros made a pair of stops in Killeen Wednesday and one of those included a shopping spree for a former Fort Hood soldier and his family.

The Astros were at Fort Hood interacting with soldiers in the morning. Then in the afternoon Astros players and broadcasters took a former soldier and his family on an Academy Sports and Outdoors shopping spree for $500.

The events were all part of the Astros' winter caravan as they make the rounds with fans before heading off to spring training in February.

The Astros have a renewed Central Texas presence this year with their AAA affiliate moving to Round Rock.
