WACO, Texas (KWTX) The Lady Bears will be going after win number 11 in a row tomorrow night. Like many basketball players around the nation, the news of Kobe Bryant's passing is still surreal. Kobe has been known to be a huge supporter of women's basketball at the professional and collegiate level.
Kim Mulkey released a statement on Kobe's passing yesterday, but also used that day as a time to remind her players just how important it is to tell your family just how much they mean to them while you still have that chance.
"It doesn't seem real. A lot of us don't want to believe it. A lot of us have looked up to him. If you're a hoops player, you know what he's done. It didn't seem real," said Baylor senior forward Lauren Cox.
"It definitely came as a shock. Those things you just don't believe can happen to people like that. Coach, she was like, everybody grab your phone, pick up the phone, call your parents and say I love you. That just...from there on, the mood was...it was hard. It was hard for sure," said Baylor junior guard Moon Ursin.
