WACO, Texas (KWTX) Monday (3/2) the long awaited Baylor Scott & White Sports and Orthopedic Center will open in Waco.
The $50 million facility started construction in November of 2018 and upon its opening will be considered one of the best sports medicine facilities in the state.
"The only thing that rivals it is the Star facility in Frisco," said Cameron Kaufhold, Operational Project Lead, Baylor Scott & White Southwest Sports & Orthopaedics. The difference is there is a full orthopedic and sports medicine clinic in these walls as well as an orthopedic surgery center. So this is an all encompassing facility. Which is really special for it to be in Waco."
The rehab and training facility on the first floor of the center is wall to wall with state of the art equipment.
"This area will have treatment bays for up to 17 therapists, so room to grow," said Kaufhold. "We'll have this new piece of equipment, Proteus. this will be the first piece of equipment used in a rehab setting in the U.S."
The facility will also have an indoor turf track, Alter G (zero gravity) treadmills, and a basketball half-court.
