Lady Bears advance to Elite Eight with win over South Carolina

GREENSBORO, N.C. (KWTX) DiDi Richards scored a career-high 25 points to help the Baylor Lady Bears rout the South Carolina Gamecocks 93-68 Saturday in the Sweet 16.

Baylor (34-1) outscored South Carolina by 13 points in the first and second quarters to take a 49-23 lead into halftime, led by Richards' 15-point first-half effort, which tied a career-high at the time.

South Carolina (23-10) missed all seven 3-point attempts in the first 20 minutes and had seven other shots blocked.

The Lady Bears led by as many as 30 points in the third quarter.

Lauren Cox came up with her 26th-career double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. The junior also had six assists and five blocks.

Baylor will play the Greensboro Region's No. 2 seed Iowa in the Elite 8 Monday at 6 p.m.
