Baylor softball pitcher Gia Rodoni will miss the entire 2019 season and redshirt after knee surgery in the off-season.
Baylor made the announcement on Tuesday ahead of the team's first set of games in a tournament in Mexico. Rodoni has been working to be ready for the upcoming season but after her final doctor's visit this week it was determined the best course of action is to sit out this season and be totally healthy for next year.
Rodoni has been a superstar in the circle for Baylor. She threw a no-hitter in the NCAA Tournament a couple of years ago. She was the ace in 2018 and was poised to be the ace of the staff again in 2019.
Head coach Glenn Moore says he has more depth than usual on this year's pitching staff and the other pitchers will have to step up to fill the void left by Rodoni's injury.
