Bears react to Bradford's season ending injury

WACO, Texas One day after the college baseball learned that Cody Bradford's season has come to an end Baylor head coach Steve Rodriguez discussed his injury.

Bradford has a shoulder injury that was tough to diagnose. The surgery to repair the injury will end Bradford's junior season at Baylor after just three early season starts for the Bears.

Rodriguez says the first tough thing was diagnosing the injury itself. He says they had to rule out other potential injuries before they could determine just what the problem is. Now that they know, he says surgery is the best option moving forward.

Rodriguez says Bradford, the coaches, and the doctors have done a lot of work to try and figure out a way to alleviate the pain for Bradford so he could continue pitching this season. When that couldn't be accomplished the decision to have surgery was made.

Bradford was a preseason All-American for the Bears.
